I hold a journalism degree, have worked for newspapers, and have written many magazine articles. I have taken numerous English courses and writing courses and have attended numerous writing conferences. I spend much of my free time on fiction. My background includes extensive time in the theater, including as an author of several youth plays and children's plays. For seven years, I worked for a Congressman and a Senator. In these jobs I gained insight into government and many issues. I had to know many subjects to be able to write about them (memos, speeches, letters) for the Congressman. My topics included health care, the environment, education, business and more. I also worked for a health care agency, gaining more knowledge of medical issues and terminology. I worked for a school system, gaining knowledge of education and educational issues. When I am not writing, I am reading The New Yorker, the National Geographic, the National Public Radio news website, and/or historical articles.
